Creating of new database file based on a main database file

Well I hope the title helps describe my issue. Each time I create a new inventory I would like to have an output file created in a subfolder that is a copy of a database I have in the main folder. So basically each time a new inventory is created it can be found in a subfolder from date and opened separately on any given time to review the information. I want to avoid storing everything on one main database due to files being shared and to keep the information organized and allow less human errors in possibly editing information in the main database. Any possible links or any help would be greatly appreciated as it was hard to find information on this around the net/forums.
